TeamGB.com

Build the online presence for the home team of the London 2012 Olympics, providing news, in-depth information on athletes and sports as well as a platform for fans to show their support.

The challenges

  • Use Drupal to give full control to the TeamGB online team.
  • Pull latest tweets from 445 athletes and governing bodies Twitter accounts, whilst working within Twitter’s API rate limit.
  • Provide a home for the Our Greatest Team campaign where users can leave messages of support for TeamGB.

My part in the story

We didn’t have much time to turn this one around, we used Drupal to meet the clients content management needs and provide the framework for this large site. I worked on a range of custom templates, leveraged Drupal’s blocks and views and built modules to achieve the end product. After the games I led the ongoing development, working with the client to make sure the site continued to meet their needs.

The facts

  • Client British Olympic Association
  • Agency Pirata
  • Technologies Drupal, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Exposure 2 million+ visits during the two weeks of Olympics
